Say goodbye to babyblog?
--
Kitten is going to school this year. With a few new clothes on, suddently she looks like a little school girl. This makes me think it's about time we consider more about Kitten and Tigger's privacy. Still, I will keep sending our activity photos to our families and friends instead of posting them in public. I am thinking, I could reduce the amount of picture posting, which I have been doing for quite a while. I could also sell babyblog.net to others who might be interested. Well, I'll think it over.

Playing with Kitten
--
Every afternoon when Tigger's having a nap, Kitten and I always spend this nice period playing games together. It was really fun playing with a four-year-old, I must say. Like Kitten, I enjoy this little 'class hour' together.

We have just finished playing the Cuisenaire rods from A to Z. Each day, we played two to three letters. We often skip the Captital letter page since Kitten is more interested in making the pictures rather than words. Here are something I found:

1. It is helpful to play with Kitten. During this time, she consider me as her parterner and a person that she can ask for help. She likes to take turns rather than playing alone. In fact, at this stage I could also observe what she has/hasn't learnd so I quite enjoyed being her partner.

2. After playing from A to Z, Kitten can link the sense of 1-4 and sometimes 5 to the color of Cuisenaire rods. The longer ones are more troublesome for her. However, near the end she can make more correct guesses in estimating which rod goes in the picture. Another related thing is that at the beginning, she use more small rods to make pictures but gradually she tends to seek the rod that can fit in the space. I think we should contintue playing with these rods.

3. In our previous play time, Kitten brought her tank engine friends in. Which means, she has to play the parts for her friends when she's making pictures. Well, I enjoyed this role-play and loved to see both Gorden and percy had a turn.

4. Kitten has a bit ideas about phonics. I guess she probably learned that in China. That's good.

5. We also started dice cards recently. It was my idea hoping to build number sense through these visual representations. I am not quite sure how this will go and still keep revising our games. Basically, Kitten has her favorite orange card set and Tigger has a set of green cards. We played dice maching, big and small comparison, riding on dice railway. We'll keep trying till some good conclusions come out.
